Національна спілка журналістів України та Незалежна медіа-профспілка України заявляють, про неприпустимість проведення цьогорічних зборів Європейської Федерації Журналістів у Російській Федерації та закликають змінити місце проведення або бойкотувати цей захід. Ми засуджуємо дії Російської Федерації як держави-агресора, яка, вперше з часів Другої світової війни, здійснила анексію, порушивши територіальну цілісність суверенної держави.
Нам складно уявити проведення зборів європейських журналістів в Москві після підтримки провідними європейським ЗМІ заклику відомого польського журналіста Адама Міхніка щодо припинення політики умиротворення агресора — керівника РФ. Провідні європейські ЗМІ закликають інтелектуальну еліту, передусім, журналістів, діячів культури і науки не мовчати, як у минулому столітті під час анексії Чехословаччини, Австрії, Польщі і Прибалтики. Ці події, так само, як і проведення Олімпіади 1936 року в країні з нацистським режимом, не привели до встановлення миру і досі лишаються ганьбою Європи. Агресор лишається агресором і через політику умиротворення тільки набирає силу і нахабніє: громадяни власної країни вірять диктатору ще більше, коли не бачать спротиву йому, а громадяни інших країн втрачають ресурси і надію на справедливу міжнародну підтримку світового правопорядку.
Вся логіка дій влади Російської Федерації доводить, що вона не збирається рахуватися ні з чиєю думкою. Тому спроба виправдати проведення європейського журналістського форуму підтримкою незалежних російських журналістів апріорі приречена на провал. Ми завжди підтримаємо незалежних російських журналістів і Спілку журналістів Росії у питаннях захисту російських журналістів, але не владу Російської Федерації, яка повністю контролює інформаційний простір країни. Влада Російської Федерації використає проведення будь-якого міжнародного заходу, так само, як і Гітлер використав Олімпіаду-36 — з пропагандистською метою, а всіх незгодних з таким “використанням” чекає доля українського журналіста Євгена Агаркова, який за свою професійну діяльність був заарештований, оштрафований та “видворений з Росії”, але виїхати з території Російської Федерації зміг тільки після міжнародного втручання. Заборона в’їзду до Російської Федерації, зокрема і для європейських журналістів, яких влада цієї країни вважає незгодними зі своєю політикою, діє вже давно і тепер тільки набирає додаткових обертів. Ніхто не може гарантувати безпеку журналістам на території держави-агресора. Це територія, влада якої продемонструвала, що там не діє загальновизнане міжнародне право. Керівник РФ хоче встановити новий світовий порядок і розуміє “право”, як право сильного, а “діалог” – як виконання нав’язаних ним умов.
Проведення форуму європейських журналістів у Москві означатиме, що є журналісти, які підтримують слова вищого посадовця РФ про те, що “Гебельс був талановитою людиною”. Ми не згодні брати участь у заході, який буде використаний для пропаганди агресивної війни і підтримки тероризму. Сподіваємось, що до нашого бойкоту приєднаються журналістські організації-члени ЄФЖ, принаймні з тих країни, чиїх громадян було вбито на борту малазійського літака. На нашу думку, кращою солідарною підтримкою європейськими журналістами своїх українських і російських колег було б дати зрозуміти диктатору, що Європа єдина в очікуванні припинення агресивних дій і готова боротися за свої цінності.

The Union of Journalists and the Media Trade Union Call for the Meeting of the European Federation of Journalists Not to be Held in Moscow or for the Meeting to be Boycotted
Declaration
To the Secretariat of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the Committee of the Independent Media Trade Union of Ukraine as to the Impermissibility of Holding the Meeting of the European Federation of Journalists in Moscow (the Russian Federation)
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the Independent Media Trade Union of Ukraine declare that it is not permissible to conduct this year’s meeting of the European Federation of Journalists in the Russian Federation and call for the place of the meeting to be changed or for a boycott of the meeting. We condemn the actions of the Russian Federation as a state aggressor which, for the first time since the Second World War has conducted an annexation, thereby violating the territorial integrity of another country.
It is difficult to imagine holding a meeting of European journalists in Moscow after leading European media supported a call by the well-known Polish journalist Adam Michnik for an end to the policy of appeasement towards the aggressor, the head of the Russian Federation. Leading European media have called on intellectual elites, first and foremost journalists, leaders in the cultural and scientific spheres, not to remain silent, as was the case in the past century during the annexation of Czechoslovakia, Austria, Poland and the Baltics. These events, as was the case of holding the 1936 Olympics in a country with a Nazi regime, did not lead to peace and remain to this day a shame for all of Europe. The aggressor remains an aggressor and through a policy of appeasement only gains additional strength and daring: the citizens of the aggressor’s country believe in the dictator more when they do not see resistance to his policies and the citizens of other countries lose resources and hope for the just international support of order across the globe.
All of the logic of the actions of those in power in the Russian Federation demonstrates that they are not prepared to take into account the views of others. That is why the attempt to justify holding a European journalists forum as a form of support for independent Russian journalists is doomed to failure from the start. We always support independent Russian journalists and the Union of Journalists of Russia on issues of protecting Russian journalists, but not the government of the Russian Federation, which completely controls the informational spaced within that country. The government of the Russian Federation will use the holding of any international forum in the same way that Hitler used the 1936 Olympics, as a propagandist tool, while all those who are not in agreement with such a usage will meet the same fate as the Ukrainian journalist Yevhen Aharkov, who, for his professional activity, was arrested, fined and “thrown out of Russia,” but could actually leave the Russian Federation only thanks to international intervention. The prohibition of entry into the Russian Federation, including for European journalists whom the government of this country regards as in disagreement with its policies, has been in place for some time and only now is it gaining additional momentum. No one can guarantee the safety of journalists on the territory of the state-aggressor. This is a territory the government of which has demonstrated that generally recognized international law is not recognized there. The leader of the Russian Federation wishes to institute a new world order and understands “law” only as the rights of the strong and “dialogue” as the fulfillment of conditions which have been imposed.
Holding a forum of European journalists in Moscow means that there are journalists support the words of the Russian Federation’s leader that “Goebbels was a talented person.” We refuse to participate in an event which will be used for the propaganda of an aggressive war and the support of terrorism. We expect that our boycott will be joined by journalist organizations and members of the European Federation of Journalists at minimum from those countries whose citizens were killed on board the Malaysian flight. In our view the best way of expressing solidarity and support by European journalists of their Ukrainian and Russian colleagues would be to send a clear signal to the dictator that Europe is united in expecting an end to aggressive actions and is prepared to stand behind our values.
